31st May – 2nd June: WEF Africa 2006

The NBF was well represented at the World Economic Forum this year in Cape Town, garnering excellent media coverage for the announcement of the Leadership program. Dr Reuel Khoza on behalf of the Foundation was interviewed on national television, radio and print and chaired 2 panel discussions on “the Changing tone of African Leadership” and “Africa’s Growth”.

The NBF played an active role in the content of WEF, providing insight and instruction through proposed content and speakers. The WEF Secretariat selected a few achievements, aspirations as well as commitments as key focus areas gained from this year’s event, namely, building social infrastructure; promoting social entrepreneurship; fighting corruption; business takes action against HIV / AIDS; promoting investment; ensuring access to education; addressing the resource curse and sharing best practices.

A detailed overview of WEF is available on www.weforum.org/africa.

NBF Networking Forum

The NEPAD Business Foundation invites you to the first NBF Networking Forum briefing with our guest speaker, Mr Reatile T. Mochebelele ("Chicks") NEPAD Secretariat, Advisor for Water & Sanitation.

NEPAD and its developmental partners is poised to face this challenge head-on with the imminent establishment of the “Infrastructure Consortium” at the African Development Bank and the drafting of the NEPAD medium to long term Infrastructure plan.

Agriculture was highlighted as the key area for future growth, with infrastructure, manufacturing and ICT mentioned as also being key to the successful economic growth of Africa.
