The NBF promotes cross-sectoral collaborations on projects that present regional developmental benefits for African countries. The various sectors such as Water, Energy and ICT have actively been involved in such projects where huge progress is being made toward building much-needed infrastructure and creating sustainable economic growth
The NBF welcomes the addition of our newest sector, the Legal Sector, chaired by Joe Nalane a Director of Werksmans Attorneys.
The law is critical to enable the NBF to achieve NEPAD’s objectives and the legal sector (which incorporates a vast network of law firms throughout Africa under the Lex Africa division of Werksmans) aims to lend support to these initiatives by:
- promoting and protecting democracy and human rights by developing standards of accountability, transparency and participatory governance at the national and sub-national levels.
- instituting transparent legal and regulatory frameworks for financial markets and the auditing of private companies and the public sector.
- instituting judicial reform.
There has been much activity and development on projects within the following: water, agriculture, energy, ICT and stock exchanges. For more updated information on any of the sectors and cross-sectoral projects such as the NBF Water Alliance Initiative, Agribusiness Conference, Westcor Project and the EASSY Cable please visit our sector page on www.nepadbusinessfoundation.org
