The ALP is, a course designed in partnership with Wits Business School, to develop a new generation of African leaders, and marked one of the first projects for 2007. The ALP has seen the successful graduation of the first "Class of 2007" in November followed immediately by an international study tour. The second "Class of 2008" has registered and will commence on 18 May 2008. The dates for the 2008 course have been rescheduled as follows:
Block 1 and 2: 18-30 May 2008 Block 3: 21-25 July 2008 Block 4: 06-10 October 2008 Block 5 and 6: 13-29 November 2008
The ALP course has already built up an expectation for expanding each participant's perspectives on Africa in the global context. The participants attending courses in different years will be networked with each other for mentoring by alumni, passing on the legacy to new participants and creating a community of leaders across Africa. The NBF held an ALP Executive Breakfast on the 3rd of March 2008, and was targeted at CEOs, HR Directors and Executives in order to secure sponsorship and key participation from the private sector for the 2008 intake.
