About NEPAD Business Foundation
The NEPAD Business Foundation (NBF) is a non-profit organisation that champions and coordinates development programmes, projects and initiatives from inception to implementation through public and private sector partnerships for the economic development of Africa.
Through signed MoU’s with the African Union, NEPAD Agency and the SADC Secretariat, among others, the NBF and its public-private sector stakeholders are able to implement interventions that complement the development efforts by governments’ across the continent. The NBF is the interim Secretariat of the SADC Business Council and the Strategic Water Partners Network.
In 2002, the NEPAD Business Foundation (NBF) was formed as a non-profit organisation to co-ordinate private sector initiatives aimed at Africa’s economic growth and development in alignment with the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) thematic areas. 20 years later, we remain committed to inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Africa through multistakeholder collaborative interventions.
Our strategic priorities involve conceptualising and implementing sustainable business initiatives focused on improving trade facilitation, the green transition /climate action and digital transition in Africa.
Our objective is to support public sector endorsed plans and projects by mobilising private sector resources such as finance, expertise and information, towards Africa’s economic growth and development. As the NBF’s purpose involves mobilising the private sector, the organisation makes a deliberate effort in aligning its efforts to the collective aspiration of improving the world through the Infrastructure Desk’s (Afri-ID) Transport and Energy programmes, and as the hosts of the SADC Business Council (SADC BC) and Strategic Water Partners Network (SWPN).
